Are you prepared for the new UKCA labelling requirements post brexit?
Once the UK has completed the Brexit transition period in January 2021, the legal requirements for labels will be changing.
UKCA mark to replace CE labels
UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking will be the new UK system to replace any instances where you have previously been using CE labels – see the government guidance here for details.
It will cover most goods that previously required the CE marking however, the UKCA marking alone cannot be used for goods being placed in Northern Ireland where the CE or UK (NI) mark will be required.
The UKCA mark can be used from 1st January 2021, but businesses have a grace period to implement the mark before 1st January 2022.
There will be some cases whereby you will need to apply the new UKCA mark to goods being sold in Great Britain immediately from the 1st January 2021 so it is highly recommended to be ready to use the new mark as soon as possible.
